Clontarf, Dublin 3

As this was my own personal space it was possible for me to be a little more experimental than usual! The property itself was originally designed by the architect as a contemporary artists studio exhibition space hence it benefits from the most glorious natural light which changes dramatically throughout the day. For this reason I had to be extremely careful with the colour palette as a colour which could look wonderful in the morning may appear dull and flat in the afternoon light.

Many of my design's are inspired by a more classic style and I am a huge fan of Haussman's chic Parisian apartment interiors with their beautiful stucco work and parquet floors. This style also lends itself to modern contemporary furniture and artwork, in this project I reversed the concept - contemporary architecture become the backdrop to many classic elements such as bespoke wainscoting/panelling, floor to ceiling bookcases and antique furnishings balanced by state of the art kitchen, low level seating and contemporary artwork.
